Hullbridge Village History
Acknowledgement is made that the following is an extract in an article written by Jim Worsdale and printed in the Evening Echo 4th August 1992 titled "For the love of Ida, Dick's boat, Black Jacks, clams...classic memories.".
I went to the little old school in Hullbridge in 1924, when I was 4 years. I too remember the ferryman Dick Hymas and the children from Woodham making their daily journey across the Crouch.
I lived in the last house on the left of Ferry Road, going towards the river - Wharf House. My family owned a large barn and grannary known as the "Snuggery".
