Hullbridge Village History
The Pensioners Fellowship Club was formed around 1959.
It is a social club for the pensioners of Hullbridge. The club met every month in the Village Hall and during the 1960's had a membership in excess of 150 people. At the meet the club would provide members with a different form of entertainment and would hold fund raising events.
The A.G.M. was held Friday 1st January and was opened by the Chairman Mr Angel. with 140 people in attendance. Those sick members unable to attend were reported as making progress. A letter was read to members from Mrs Oakman in which she told of the wonderful Xmas she had in Rochford Hospital and that she hoped to be out of bed next week. Birthday greetings were given to Mr Tuthill then the Treasurer Mr Rudlin presented his financial report and received a vote of thanks from the Chairman on behalf of the members. Entertainment was provided by The Serenaders, Bob Bennett, Doris Sparrow and Dorothy Withers on piano.

Feb 9th meeting opened with a minutes silence for the death of Mr. Eddie Cook who passed away during the week. Birthday greetings went to Mesdames Brice, Vincent, Elliot, Mr Beer and Mr Robson. Entertainment was by the Crackerjacks.
On 30th Nov Hullbridge Pension Fellowship held their Annual Dinner at Garons, Southend-on-Sea.

The A.G.M. was held 2nd Dec., and opened at 2.00 p.m. with Mr Angel. Chairman presiding with an attendance of 150 members. Sick reports stated that all the sick members were improving.
Birthday greetings were sung for Mrs Preston and Mrs King. Football winner was Mr Adger Welcome back to the meeting was given to Mrs Cook.
Mr Angel, Chairman then vacated the chair to County
Councilor Mr Bill Wright who
conducted the business of the election of officers and committee which resulted as follows:-
Mr Angel: Chairman, Mr Rowland: Vice Chairman, Mr Allen: Secretary, Mr Brice: Treasurer,
Mrs Rudlin: Social Secretary, (all unopposed).
COMMITTEE: Mr Len Cowell, Mr Cook, Mesdames Chignell, Angel, Simpson, King, Beckwith, Sheppard, Cowell, Trigg, Miss Hodges and Mrs Oakman (all unopposed).
At the A.G.M. Mr E Long took over the chair whilst the officers and Committee were
elected. The officers elected are:-
Chairman: Mr Angel, Vice-Chairman: Mr C Rowland, Secretary: Mr B.E. Allen, Treasurer: Mr H Piggott, Social Secretary: Mrs Beckwith.
COMMITTEE: Mr and Mrs Cowell, Mrs Rudlin, Mrs Chignall, Mrs Edwards, Mrs Simpson, Mrs Oakman, Mrs Hickson, Mrs Preston, Mrs Sheppard, Miss Hidges and Mr Weston.
On 29th December the meeting was opened with a minutes silence for the death of Mr Wheeler who had passed away that morning. Birthday greeting were sung for Mrs Wilson, Mrs Jenner, Mr Jarvis and Mr King.
