Hullbridge Village History

The History of 263 Ferry Road.Ordnance Survey Grid Ref (TQ 810 953)

Carter's

Phil George posted on HMH Facebook Forum.
Not to be confused with Mr Short as in Les and Daisy Short who ran the grocers at the other end of the village! My Mum always referred to it as 'Shorts' not sure if it had a proper name. I remember going with Mum, she would hand a list to Daisy who would then disappear off and re-emerge with various produce. It was a tiny place but Tardis like in nature. A bit like Arkwrights shop in open all hours but darker and older...

Direct Fruit Supplies

In 1970 the business had a Tel No: Hullbridge 689.
Direct Fruit Supplies also existed at 115 Leigh Road, Leigh on Sea.

Zanussi Shop
