Before you view the images I would like to just set out how football evolved for the boys of the village. The early records of the school show that this was the first stages of offering organized football and it was quite succesful. Then came the Scouts league swiftly followed by the setting up of Hullbridge Boys by Mr Ted Rose around 1966 when they joined the Thames Valley Boys League. Later that year Mr Rose was forced to stop managing as a result of an League review on the way Hullbridge Boys beat league leaders Falcons 3-0. The team carried on playing until Mr Wilson of Abbey Road whose son Paul played for the team picked up the mantle. Around 1967 Hullbridge Sports fielded their first boys team in the Thames Valley League. Following the formation in 1974 of the Hullbridge Sports and Social Club was the creation by Doug Tyrell and Howard Nelson of the Hullbridge Youth Section and youth football in the village has never looked back since.

Warren Harman had a brother Lee Harman whom was a defender like Warren in the same Hullbridge football team as me. I recall Graeme Hawes was a very skillful player and a mass crowd of us used to play on the playing fields @ Park School. The Gilbert used to live in Burnham Road and all the brothers played football. Some more face are familiar but including Nick Crook, whom lived in South Avenue,
